Absolute Pink Hawthorn puree is cold pressed from fresh hawthorn berries, which grow in the Manchueon Mountains. It contains the maximum amounts of bioactive nutrients.
Hawthorn is well known and used in both traditional Chinese medicine and Western herbal medicine. It was initially documented by the first century Greek herbalist Dioscorides and later by the Swiss physician Paracelsus. Its botanical name Crataegus is derived from the Greek word meaning strength. In ancient times Chinese herbalists used Hawthorn mainly to improve digestion while in western herbal medicine it has a long traditional use as a tonic for the heart.
Today, hawthorn berries are one of the world's best known and valued fruits for supporting the health of the cardiovascular system and circulation. In addition Hawthorn has shown antioxidant activity attributed to its high content of flavonoids and proanthocyanidins. Three active groups of bio-compounds: the flavonoid compounds, the triterpenoid saponins and the amines found in the leaves, berries and blossoms are considered to be responsible for Hawthorn’s many health benefits.
