Ear Candles are a gentle and relaxing way to clean your ears.
They work simply by utilizing the vacuum that is created within the candle by the burning flame. In essence they become little vacuum cleaners.
Ear Candles are not a new invention. Asian and tribal cultures alike have been using them for centuries.
The only thing that you should experience when using ear candles properly is a gentle crackling noise (and the occasional pop when a chunk of solid wax is removed). Ear candles assist in maintaining ear hygiene.
EAR CANDLING PROCEDURE
REQUIRED
- One candle per ear. Each candle should take 15 to 20 minutes to burn.
- Water container to extinguish lit candle once it has been removed from the ear. Metal or porcelain plate to place used candle onto when finished with.
- Pair of scissors to cut the base of the used candle to view removed wax and debris from the ear.
- We recommend that another person hold the candle vertically for you.
PROCESS TO FOLLOW
- Refrigerate candle for half hour before use. Slows burning time. Burns cleaner.
- The client must be laying on their side in a comfortable position.
- Our ear candles are made from pure bees wax which generally burn cleanly without debris or ash, however, please cover the side of the face & hair with a cloth as a precaution!
- Ear candling must be done in an environment with no breeze or air movement. If flame flickers to one side then candle is burning unevenly resulting in one side of candle being hotter than the other resulting in most cases to candle dripping.
- Place tapered end into ear canal. (non cloth end) Tug gently around ear so that candle fits snugly into the ear and covers the ear canal totally to ensure vacuum is created. Do not shove the candle into the ear.
- Make sure the candle is vertical at all times. If the candle is burning when on an incline one side burns faster than the other which tends them to drip.
- Light the exposed calico end.
- If ash begins to form at the top of candle gently turn candle in the ear so that flame covers the burnt calico to burn it away faster.
- Burn candle down to about 10cms from base.
- Remove candle from ear and extinguish in plate of water.
- Do not keep removing and replacing the candle from ear whilst it is burning.
